Wedding Planning Adventure: Cheesecake Infinity Dresses

Yup you read it right, am a Cheesecake lady :-) I posted sometime ago about my search on my entourage dresses here. Well, it's been months when I have met with Ms Agatha during my visit in Manila last June, I already have 2 dresses from her before our meeting that is why I was so excited for our meeting.

A burgundy dress that I wore in June for my friends wedding in Singapore. This is my entourage dress, of course I have to order for myself first hahahahahah.

A twofer dress that I love so much makes me feel like am Betty Boop :-) I wore this during our Teacher's Day dinner last September.

And since I loved my 2 dresses, during our meeting she informed me that she has an on hand stock of this midnight blue long dress in my size, of course this is a no brainer purchase for me hahahahah I bought it and planning to use it as my prep dress during our "sakal" day.

Ms. Agatha is super friendly we meet her at Greenbelt and wow she came prepared she had her sample swatches and there are so many pretty colors to choose from, I could just imagine any bride who doesn't have any idea on her color motif would be overwhelmed with choices ( well I was set on the color burgundy ) but don't worry Ms. Agatha would assist you to make the right choice, I was torn on using different shades of red, but after talking to her I decided to stay with my original choice Burgundy. She is not pushy, she is just hmmm? like a good friend who would listen, give an advice and let you decide afterwards.

Here are some samples of her entourage dresses, pictures are from Cheesecake Facebook page

Don't you just love the colors and how many ways your ladies could wear it on your day.
They would have a synthesized look for they are wearing one color and yet you could let their individual personalities out since they would choose how they could wear it :-).
The cut is flattering for any body shape so it means your ladies would be oozing with confidence, happy and beautiful on your big day.
Plus!!! they could use it for another occasion in another way and have a totally new dress, such a perfect gift for your ladies.

My ladies were excited when I've shown them pictures of the dresses, although some are worried that they wont be able to manage to do it, I just re-assured them that I would give their dresses months in advance and I would include a how-to CD and booklet, so now I just need to get their measurements which is another story hahahahha.

I just can't wait to order my entourage dresses from Cheesecake.. hmmm? maybe I should again get something for myself... our pre-nup is on March?? What should I get? infinity jumpsuit? infinity top? another infinity dress? what color?

Now I am excited!!!

DIY Project: Free Missalette Cover

This is so typical of me, thinking that since am on a school holiday I would be able to update my blog entries regularly :-) well I just proved myself wrong and got a new nick name from Mr Carbon... Bumbelina!!!

Well, I was not bumming the whole time hahahhaha I was able to finalized our invitations for our overseas guests, sent our Save The Dates and as the tittle of this entry states :-) I was also able to finalized our Missalettes and our Missaletter cover and am to excited

So what was so exciting about this? Firstly it was an emotional ride as always when I was editing the Missalette that Our Lady of Mt. Carmel writing our names and reading it made me nervous hahahah plus! a mega emotional me was when I was writing the "In Memory" part haiz!!!!

Well, this also has a comedic part. I asked the "one who can't be named" to check our Missalette not being a Catholic she was asking me a lot of questions and reacting to almost every part of the ceremony. But I do have to thank her for she did an awesome job checking the punctuation and spaces :-)

If you're looking for prayers for our Filipino Customs this site is a big help.

And another part that I loved was that I accidentally learned how to use Adobe!!! hahahahah and I tell you its awesome fun. I was able to make not 1 but 5 Missalette Covers and am sharing it to you guys!!!

The covers are in PDF and PNG file and I also included our Missalette which you could all download HERE .

I know the designs are simple but these is my first time using Adobe.. to keep in touch more FREEBIES!!! to come soon :-)

Any suggestions of what you want?

Whew! few more days and we would be saying Adios to 2013 and Ola to 2014, it also means that were on our 6th month mark before our sakal day. Now am left with the small details which includes my wedding gown hahahahhah.

Anyways, I stumbled upon this website The Time Warp Wife which by the way has very inspiring articles about marriage (I would share more about it in another post). She also has this section about positive marriage qoutes. I was reading through it and it gave me an idea, instead of a typical table number why not put a nice qoute that me and jowaness could relate to.

Since the year is ending, I am giving you these Table 1 - 20 chalkboard table number printables. I was able to create 5 styles, pick and choose.  Just click on the image to download. Enjoy!

Yehey!!! Finally we got our wedding souvenirs supplier. Lucky Charmz is again a GT find, don't you just love the girls in GT they do recommend good suppliers.

Lucky Charms is an online store in FB. Ms Edicel is such a talented person I love her works and most importantly its affordable.

Here are some of her works that you could order from her

Looking for gifts for you entourage? Consider these cute items

Looking for your Ceremony Accessories? Don't fret she also have

It was easy to transact with Ms. Edicel, she answers queries quite fast. I've ordered our Cake Topper, guests souvenirs, entourage gifts, and our ceremony accessories from her and I would be receiving it on March.

I've sent her some inspiration for our Cake Toppers, color motif. As much as Bride and Groom clays are cute I've asked her if she could use our love birds for the souvenirs

And she could do a sample for you, I do need to pay for it. I was so undecided whether to have a key chain or photo holder with our name or without so paying for it was worth it

Now, I have a dilemma I like them all, am leaning towards the cute key chain without our name and the photo holder with our name hahahahha.

She would deliver your items thru JRS or meet ups, I choose to meet her, I just need to meet this talented lady.

I used to love reading my all time favorite book is The Little Prince... nowadays my readings is confined during my MRT rides to and from work.

I've heard about Paulo Coelho when I was still working in the retail industry and only recently that I finally got into reading one if his books, The Alchemist.

Ok Iam not writing to do a book review but rather to share some quotes that I loved or I could actually relate to, and one of my fave quotes is actually in my header blog, it inspired me to do the things that I've been planning for so long like having my own blog :-)

So what's your favorite quote from The Alchemist?

Ok now you have decided to give your ladies an Infinity Dress to wear on your day and like me I liked the idea of giving the ladies the opportunity to show their personalities by letting them choose how they wanted to wear their dresses.

So what's next? Well, when I had my first Infinity Dress I was confused hahahah or better yet overwhelmed on how to wear it... so to make the life of my dear ladies easier I asked the help of Google and of course my ever trusty bridesmaid Lorena and here are some styles that could help you or your ladies anyday :-)

We had fun trying the different styles. You and your ladies would too. :-)

Wedding Planning Adventure: Diocese Requirement (Search of Marriage Record)

How time flies! We are only left with 120 days before our day.. and so typical of me to cram hahahahah so this week aside from being busy from work I have to scramble to complete the documents needed from Singapore to be submitted to the Diocese of Cubao for me to get my clearance. Haiz!! I've posted about it here.

So, how does one search for Marriage Records. Easy! Go to the Registry of Marriage Website, its recommended that you use Internet Explorer.

Go to the Services tab and choose search for marriage records

You would be sent to the next window, choose the Search for Marriage Records option since we would be requiring a certified true copy. There is a SGD 35 fee and it would be posted to your address.

Next, read the instructions and click agree.

Next, fill in your details. I choose search by NRIC No. and click submit.

It would send you to the payment page fill in the details needed and then you would be sent to this window

Your done! Just check your mailbox within 2-3 days.

Wedding Supplier: Wedding Gown (Niño Angeles Couture)

I always told my friends that I work well under pressure.. in short I love love to cram, maybe it's the adrenaline rush or the sense of accomplishment I get when I did a great awesome job hahahhaa.

So it was not a surprise to most when they found out, with 4 months to our big day that I still don't have a wedding gown, been joking that they need not worry for I have tons of dresses in my cabinet :-)

A friend of mine found this out and she recommended Mr. Niño Angeles a designer from Makati. Well, it's another opportunity for me to put my Google skills to work and I was surprised with what I found...

Niño’s accomplishments include being the grand prize winner of Cinderella (Designer Competition 2008), and now have his own RTW line in the same clothing store.

1st placer in Manila Fame Green Fashion Design Competition (April 2010); 2nd placer in the Triumph Inspiration Award (May 2011) and Look Special Citation Award in the Look of Style Awards (October 2011). He is also a graduate of SOFA (School of Fashion and the Arts).

My reaction was Wow!! So I gathered my guts and sent him a message Facebook with my wedding gowns peg and some ideas how I wanted my gown to be like,  in a matter of a few hours he responded with a design and it was... beautiful.. simple.. and it was ME written all over it. He would be using illusion tulle on the skirt and duchess satin on the top detailed with Spanish lace and crystals.

Of course I would not post his design here hahahahah it should be a surprise :-)

What struck me with Mr. Niño is his down to earth attitude, I have not even confirmed my purchase he answers my querries as if am already a client, being a person with so much accomplishments I was surprised how humble and funny he is, he made me feel at ease.

This is one person who made me comfortable being a Chabelita, explaining to him that I am in this losing journey of trying to lose weight he just answered me "Don't worry,Thats my forte mga chubby girl like me" My reaction to his comment? " Sir!!! Love na kita!!!!!"

Like any other Brides I do have some concern especially that I would not even have a 1st fitting for I would only be back to Manila a week before the wedding, he reassured me that if any alterations would be needed that he would be able to do it in a few days.

He was supposed to be on vacation on my big day, when I found out that he plans to cancel his vacation I told him not to for my every trusty sister and bridesmaid would be able to help me again he made me feel special when he told me "Ok lang dear. Gusto ko hands on ako sa brides ko"

 whew!! Panic mode off :-)

See, cramming does have its plus sides!! I am truly blessed to have found not only excellent suppliers but new friends.

I am so excited to meet him would be going to his shop during my March visit in Manila.

Since I can't post his design for me, let me share some of his works from his Facebook page

So if any of you ladies is still in the hunt for your perfect dress. Give Mr. Niño a call or send him a message, you would not only find your perfect dress but a person who would make sure that you look perfect on your big day! :-)

Wedding Planning Adventure: Diocese Requirement (Freedom to Marry)

Yahoo! this is one productive weekend for me :-)

Anyways, lets get back to this post. One of the requirements to get your clearance from the Diocese is a Freedom to Marry Certificate from your parish church. I've been going to Novena Church for mass, unfortunately they don't issue the certificate for they are not a Parish Church.

So what's next? well you should try calling the Churches near your home or work place, you could get the list at www.catholic.org.sg.

If you are near St. Michael Church, you could contact Rev Fr. Angel Luciano he would be able to issue you a Certificate.

Father Angel Luciano, CICM, a chaplain for Filipino migrants,Fr. Angel’s parish is Church of St.Michael,
17 Saint Michael’s Rd, Singapore 327976.Tel: 6392 0592 Fax: 6294 8030.

Give Fr. Angel a call so you could set up an appointment with him. I went to see him today, as like other Filipino Priest he is welcoming and warm we even had a quick chit chat about what our plans after the wedding since Jowaness is based in Manila, he gave me some advice, wished me luck and handed me my Freedom to Marry Certificate.

Yipee!!Done with all the requirement needed from Singapore :-)

Another requirement needed is the search of marriage certificate, you could find it here

It's been awhile since my last post, as always my work gets in the way of my blogging life hahaha.
Anyways, am back!

I was able to go to Manila for only a week and one task on my to do list was our Engagement Shoot, e-nup, pre-nup hahahaha it's been called to many names.

As you may know I booked my HMUA Ms. Xyrene of Make-up by XY without a meeting or a trial make-up. It was thru FB that we chatted about the details, we bonded and even before I meet her, I already love her hahahaah.

So meeting her for the first time was exciting. I was wondering if the same chemistry that we had in FB would translate in person. (Yes! it's like meeting your online friend EB style).

On the 19th of March... We finally met :-)

And of course we clicked, bonded, laughed which is a big relief. And the bonus points are she also bonded with our Photographer Rvee Santiago, Videographer Onair Aerial and my ever lovable Tita Mileth.

Knowing that my team likes each other, is such a big deal for me am into this TEAMWORK maybe it's my ex-manager persona trying to come out hahahahha.

Enough of this gleaming comments, I know you guys want to know how it went.

Xyrene and Adrian came on time, their call time was 9:00 am. She even sent an SMS that they are on their way.

She did not take any before and after pics, so I have to find a pic of mine that could do

I had 3 looks but was only able to take a picture look 1 and 3

Look 1

Look 3
And the pictures came out amazing hehehehehhe (Love your own!)

I know you B2B would like to know how I would rate her and of course any pros and cons, to here it goes.

Opps! Got to explain my rating scale, since I am such a emotional person and my EQ level if as high as Mt. Everest I decided to rate according to how I love them.

My ratings are based on my personal experience and expectation during our engagement shoot. So please take it with a pinch of salt :-)

Rating: (1 Heart lowest - 5 Hearts Highest)

Pro's:
  • Xyrene and Adrian arrived on time
  • She could multi task.. Chikahan is a must for me but this lady could work and talk at the same time.
  • She has a good sense of humor which made me feel at ease, am not used to putting on make-up since I changed career.
  • When she was doing my make-up I noticed that she has this habit of cleaning her tools during and after using it, again being hygienic is a major plus!!!
  • Super attentive, during the photo shoot she follows us around to make sure that my makeup is ok, although I did not find the need for her to do this since the air brush make up was holding well and take it from me I perspire like a waterfall.
  • I don't know how the other HMUA works but she stayed all through out the shoot which made me feel special..that am not just a client. She made sure that I was ok.
Con's:

Haiz! None I could think of.. Believe me am trying to crack my brain just to come out with one. Sorry.

Rvee Santiago, Jowaness, Miss Chuchubells, Xyrene Eugenio, Adrian

Wedding Planning Adventure: Engagement Shoot (Photogrpher: Rvee Santiago Photography)

Waking wide awake at 5am is kinda good. I was able to do my laundry and do some catch up writing, planning and almost anything that was put on hold.

During my trip to Manila, 2nd to our canonical interview the engagement shoot was the one that I was looking forward too.

Since the day that we booked Rvee Santiago Photography we were in constant communication talking about almost anything be it about our wedding preps or personal lives which made me at ease.

I've written about Rvee when I booked him on one of my previous post here.

And as I always say I love to stalk my suppliers and I was glad that I was able to book him last year seeing his portfolio that gets bigger everyday he is one talented photographer, having an event almost every week means that he is getting more clients which means he is getting known in the industry... so happy to be one of his brides!!!!

Rvee Santiago, Jowaness, Miss Chuchubells, Xyrene Eugenio, Adrian
So how to I start?? Hmmm?

In a nutshell, I was pleasantly surprised how down to earth, humble, nice, respectful Rvee is, yes! I know you would say that since I am his uncle's friend he has to be nice to me but unfortunately some people would not do the same thinking that since am a friend of his uncle that he could treat me lesser and get away with it. Now I know why he is making it in the industry he is not only talented but also a nice person which equates to success!!! :-)

So let's start by doing my rating

My ratings are based on my personal experience and expectation during our engagement shoot. So please take it with a pinch of salt :-)

Rating: (1 Heart lowest - 5 Hearts Highest)

Pro's:
  • Rvee suggested that we should do a bonding session before our e-shoot so that we could be at ease with each other, on the day of our bonding we have to reschedule the time since me and jowaness was caught up with our family thing. He agreed even if was at 10pm and on a Sunday night. This only showed me that he is passionate and cares about his clients, he really wants his clients to feel as ease with him and he knows he could only achieve this in a non threatening environment with out his camera over a Starbucks coffee and cake.
  • He arrived early during the e-shoot day and waited patiently while I was doing my make-up. He even accompanied Jowaness to order our lunch.
  • During the shoot he was professional and funny at the same time, he was giving us clear directions that is easy to follow and felt natural. Even Jowaness who does not like having his picture taken was so at ease that his hidden talent for modelling was discovered hahahaha.
Photo by : Rvee Santiago Photography
  • If Patience is a virtue... Rvee definitely has it  it. I am this bubbly lady who can't take a serious pose, I am just always smiling. So when it come to those serious poses he was so patient and never did I hear a sound of irritation from him.
  • It was his first time in Light of Love he made use of his time wisely, when I was touching up my make-up instead of sitting and waiting he scouted the area and found awesome places for us to shoot.
  • The photos came out awesome he was able to capture some of our candid moments which I love.

  • Rvee was able to give us the photos within 3 weeks which was faster than I expected, since he did 3 e-shoots in the same week as ours, and he apologized which I did not find necessary, again this shows his good character.
  • Our Videographer  Onair Aerial Videography went it us just to scout the area and do some trial run with his aerial cam, but when Gerald got this idea for a e-shoot video Rvee was kind enough to let them use some his time to get some aerial shots, which told me that he is a team player.
Con's:

Haiz! None I could think of.. Believe me am trying to crack my brain just to come out with one.You might say that I am a person that is easy hahahah or I have a high tolerance. I don't. :-)

Now that our e-shoot is ticked off our list. I am more confident that we are in good hands during our big day. I love the fact that my suppliers are getting along well, our characters gel like how aqua nets gel your hair hahahaha.

See the our e-shot photos in Rvee Santiago Photography page here.

For a person who loves loves to eat I think it comes out naturally that I also love to feed people just ask my flatmates they gained weight since they stayed with me. :-)

So finding the right food to feed my awesome crew, the unsung heroes on our big day is such a challenge. Looking for an affordable and yet yummy food for whether you like it or not it could cost you a bomb.

I could serve them Jollibee but then I don't want to serve something that they have eaten in wedding preps for the nth time.

So I better get my googling skills to work and find out an alternative.

So here is what I've come out with. (Click on the name to be directed to their website of FB page)

1. Almost Gourmet

190 for 2 viands/2cups rice and a bottled water.

Our big day in less than a month, haiz! and it's getting harder, I miss my parents badly there are some things that I wish they could tell me on how to go about things.

I know my relatives means well when it comes to telling or imposing some of the Filipino Pamanhiin

You should do this,” and “you should not do that,” are the most commonly heard phrases by soon-to-be-married couple. But because we are descendants of our great grandparents who stress that these beliefs are indeed backed up by past experiences, we of the younger generation, who seek for help on many what-to-do-things, embrace the idea believing superstitions. Why not? Besides, there is nothing to lose if we follow such beliefs.

So here it is... (side comments in Italic)

  • Brides shouldn’t try on their wedding dress before the wedding day or the wedding will not push through.

  • It is also considered a bad luck for the couple to see each other the night before their wedding.

  •  The groom should be in the wedding venue before the bride arrives to avoid bad luck.
  • Knives and other sharp and pointed objects are said to be a bad choice for wedding gifts for this will lead to a broken marriage.
  • Giving an arinola (chamberpot) as wedding gift is believed to bring good luck to newlyweds.
  • Altar-bound couples are accident-prone and therefore must avoid long drives or traveling before their wedding day for safety.
  • Rains during the wedding means prosperity and happiness for the newlyweds.

  • A flame extinguished on one of the wedding candles means the one whose candle was extinguished will die ahead of the other.
  • Throwing rice confetti at the newlyweds will bring them prosperity all their life.
  • The groom must arrive before the bride at the church to avoid bad luck.
  • Breaking something during the reception brings good luck to the newlyweds.
  • The bride should step on the groom’s foot while walking towards the altar if she wants him to agree to her every whim.
  • A bride who wears pearls on her wedding will be an unhappy wife experiencing many heartaches and tears.
  • Dropping the wedding ring, the veil, or the arrhae during the ceremony spells unhappiness for the couple.
  • A bride who cries during the wedding will bring bad luck to the marriage.

Do you have any other superstitions that you know about? Share it with us! As they say there's no harm in trying :-)
